NC education as dictated by the state legislature

This tickles me for some reason. Or depresses me. Something like that.

A few years ago, the NC state legislature rolled over for the state tourism industry, and passed a law that school couldn’t start before August 25 or end after June 10. An existing law required a minimum of 180 school days in a year.

Now our western counties have had so many snow days they can’t observe both laws. Which they warned about when the law was passed, to no avail. They plan to try again in the next session to get the law changed – and the tourism lobby is already vowing to fight it.
